Reddy, Professor & Head, Department of Biochemistry and the Course Organizer briefed on the contents of the course. Dr. Satish Kumar, Professor, Dept. of Biochemistry introduced the Chief Guest Dr. S.C. Parija, Dr Kanchan Mohod, Assistant Professor of Biochemistry proposed a Vote of Thanks. Dr. (Mrs.) P. Narang; Dr. B.C. Harinath; Dr. M.V.R. Reddy; Dr. S.P. Kalantri,; Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital; Dr. D.K. Mendiratta, Prof & Head, Dept. of Microbiology; Dr. Rajpal Kashyap, Senior Consultant, CIIMS, Nagpur; Dr. S.L Hoti, Deputy Director, Vector Control Research Centre, Pondicherry were the expert faculty members in the course.
A confidential written feedback from the Participants at the conclusion of the course reflected that the course was well received. Work of the wasteland development of about 220 acres behind Medical Institute was started on October 2nd 2002 and developed into Arogyadham with Herbal Garden (Aonla – Medicinal plants), with the help of Jain Charities through JISL. Water is brought by a 5-6 Km pipeline from Pawnar river. Presently medicinal plants such as Aonla (22000), Ritha (50), Karanj (103), Neem (292) in addition to Ashoka (155), Custard apple (105) plants are grown.
The intercrops in between Aonla plants will help in prevention of growth of weeds and thus easy maintenance of Aonla medicinal plants. Premansoon cotton and onion seeds are taken as intercrops in between Aonla plants.
