In bronchial asthma, yoga helps in improving the pulmonary function tests and frequency of reduce medication use. Yoga and meditation helps in delaying the aging process by reducing the rate of decrease in grey matter and improving the reaction time. RESOLUTION

Two day International Symposium has successfully organized on ‘YOGism for Healthy & Happy Living and Aging’ on 6th & 7th December 2010 at Arogyadham, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram, Dist. Wardha Cosponsored by CCRYN, New Delhi and supported by KHS, ICMR, MCI, CSIR & DST. 107 Delegates and 32 Guest Speakers and Eminent Scientists, Doctors and Yogis attended from all over India and have exchanged their views and knowledge through presentations and discussions. On this grand occasion the following resolutions have been passed unanimously by all.

  1. There has been a very good yoga and health awareness among the people in cities. If we want to make our nation healthy and strong we should follow our age old long tradition, heritage and culture of Yoga. It is felt that the knowledge should reach the rural people. This will help to promote and maintain their health as well as to prevent diseases. To implement this we resolve to establish Naturopathy & Yoga section attached to every primary health care centre which will run the yoga activity and assist to improve quality of their life. For the same purpose we propose that one male and one female Yoga / Naturopathy expert / therapists be appointed at this centre.

  2. In order to make the Yoga knowledge available to all types of students who want to achieve higher education in yoga, we propose that a separate Yoga department should be started in each and every University. This will include the research and training facilities also.

  3. In order to make our doctors aware of principles, therapy and applications of Yoga and Naturopathy as preventive and complimentary medicines, it is proposed that topics related to Yoga namely Yoga in promotion of positive health, preventive medicine, therapy and integrative medicine be included in medical curriculum for undergraduate and post graduate students.
